Taizé (pronounced tay-zay) Prayer is a service of contemplative music based on the prayer of the Taizé community in France. Founded in 1940 by Brother Roger as an ecumenical community committed to peace and bringing together of all Christians, the Taizé community grew to become a pilgrimage site for thousands of young people from all over the world who took this beautiful form of prayer back to their homes. Taizé Prayer is a contemplative hour of music and meditative singing that stills and nourishes the spirit. Led by a team of musicians that have gathered at Duncan United Church since 2006, Taizé Prayer brings together people from many churches and faiths here in Cowichan Valley and provides an hour to be still and refill, Services are held at special times throughout the year.
