On Saturday, March 24th the United Way and Barely North Entertainment are teaming up with renowned musical artists Scotty Hills (who is also a main organizer of the event) and Dana Sipos to present a special concert in the Sanctuary at Duncan United Church to raise funds for a vital homeless prevention program in our community. The musicians will be joined by distinguished guest speakers, including Keith Simmonds, Minister of Duncan United Church and Cowichan MLA Sonia Furstenau. The speakers will engage in a dialogue around the rising number of community members who are homeless, address common concerns, and discuss strategies that will help move the dial on homelessness, together with actions we can all take.

Duncan United Church’s Social Justice Outreach Team is a group of dedicated community members who have been responding to poverty and homelessness in our area for many years. They are creating this fund to help families and individuals who are at imminent risk of homelessness, as current programs in the valley are far from meeting the needs in our area. Their goal is to substantially increase the amount of assistance available.

We invite you to join us for an exceptional night of music, while supporting a cause that has a direct and immediate impact in our community. Please come and engage in conversation, focused on eliminating some of the barriers our neighbours face, and how we can create a just community for all. Tickets are $20 and will be available in advance at Duncan Music (488 TCH), United Way (135 Third St), Duncan United Church (246 Ingram St), and www.eventbrite.ca. Tickets will also be available at the door, until capacity is reached.
